Scholarships to grow by 4.9%

The scholarships and other forms of social assistance intended for students of universities and technical professional education intuitions and for persons in post-university education will be by 4.9% higher. The Cabinet approved relevant changes to a number of regulations, IPN reports.

The scholarship of category I for university students (cycle I and cycle  II, including integrated studies) will be 880 lei, of category  II - 750 lei and of category III - 690 lei. The social scholarship will be 465 lei.

The scholarships of three categories in post-secondary and tertiary post-secondary education will be 690, 575 and 530 lei respectively, while the social scholarship will be 405 lei. The scholarships in secondary technical professional education will be 510, 430 and 360 lei, while the stipend for deaf and   mute students will be 390 lei.

The scholarships for doctoral students and resident doctors will vary between 1,155 and 1,325 lei, depending on the length of service when starting the studies.

Higher performance and special scholarships will be paid to talented students of national arts boarding schools and of the National Choreographic College. The Republic’s Scholarship intended for university students will be 1,525 lei, the President’s Scholarship – 1,385 lei in higher education and 1,075 lei in technical professional education, the Government’s Scholarship - 1,270 de lei, while the Gaudeamus Scholarship – 920 lei.

A sum of 12.5 million lei was earmarked in the 2019 state budget for these rises.
