Moldova to compete in 2019 Eurovision in second semifinal

Moldova will compete in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in the second semifinal that will take place on May 16. The order in which the competitors will sing in the two semifinals was decided by draw, IPN reports.

According to the official website of the contest, the first semifinal of May 14 will feature the singers from Slovenia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Cyprus, Serbia, Finland, Poland, Hungary, Estonia, Portugal, San-Marino, Island, Georgia, Australia, Belgium, Ukraine, and Greece. The second semifinal will involve the competitors from Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland, Austria, Moldova, Latvia, Romania, Denmark, Armenia, Albania, Azerbaijan, Macedonia, Norway, Russia, the Netherlands, Croatia, Lithuania, and Malta.

A number of 28 contenders will compete in the national pre-selection. The winner will be chosen in three stages. At the first stage, there will be examined the phonograms in the absence of participants. Live auditions will take place later and afterward the jury will choose a maximum of 16 songs that will compete at the final stage. The final stage of the national selection is considered the national seminal and the final that will take place on March 2 and 3.

Israeli singer Netta won the 63th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Toy” and brought thus the contest to Israel. The final was scheduled for May 18, 2019.
