The National Bank of Moldova put commemorative 10 lei coin into circulation on November 29, the Bank’s vice governor Ion Sturzu announced in a ceremony held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Moldovan leu, IPN reports.
According to the vice governor, the coin is made from steel and is plated with nickel and brass, which makes it look silvery-goldish. On the opposite side, the central part of the coin is divided into two parts that look like the son and the moon, signifying the continuity of times, the past and the present.
The coin will circulate in parallel with the 10 lei bill and with the divisionary coin with the same face value that was introduced in February 2018. The 1 leu coin and the 2 lei coin were put into circulation earlier.
