Motorists in northern Moldova, where it snowed all night long, travel in winter conditions. A number of 57 units of transport cleared the roads of snow and spread antiskid material.

Head of Soroca district Mihai Matu has told IPN that the road workers cleaned the local roads. There were no emergencies, but the road workers are ready to intervene in any exceptional case.

Vladimir Ciobanu, of the Telenesti District Council, said the roads in Telenesti are passable. The snow that fell at night melted, but the drivers are warned to be cautious as the roadway is wet.

Sergiu Capatana, head of the operational service of the State Road Administration, said all the drivers who face an emergency can call on (022) 74-89-61, which was activated on November 1 and will be available through winter.

The motorists are urged to equip the vehicles with winter tires and to take fire extinguishers and shovels as well as blankets and hot drinks in Thermos before setting out.
