Prosecutors seek warrant for arrest of Ilan Shor

Anticorruption prosecutors sequestrated assets of MP Ilan Shor. Acting chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Adriana Bețișor has told IPN that the move was made in a criminal case started over bank fraud that is managed by the institution.

The prosecutors sequestrated cars, lots, buildings and shareholdings in companies. The value of the sequestrated assets wasn’t specified.

Ilan Shor is investigated as a suspect. According to Adriana Bețișor, the anticorruption prosecutor on June 26 will ask for a warrant for the arrest of Ilan Shor from the Cahul Appeals Court.

It has been reported that Ilan Shor fled Moldova.

In June 2017, Ilan Shor was sentenced to seven years and a half in jail for causing damage to the state by swindle and abuse of trust. The sentence was challenged in the Appeals Court and Shor was freed from house arrest and placed under judicial control until a definitive sentence is given to him. In February 2018, the case was moved to the Cahul Appeals Court and a final judgement hasn’t been passed yet.
