Maia Sandu: Any conversation can only be held in Parliament

Prime minister Maia Sandu says the Democartic Party’s invitation to talk rather indicates its lack of will to comply with the law. Still, Sandu allowed for the possibility of a conversation only if a few conditions are met.

During a press conference, Maia Sandu stated that any conversation can only take place after the immediate liberation of all state institutions and after all the “aggressive persons” surrounding the Government building are called off. Also, “after any form of threat is discontinued against public functionaries and the people of Moldova”.

“After these conditions are met, any form of conversation can only happen in Parliament. PDM lawmakers should come to the Parliament session. We don’t accept hush-hush talks, like they do it in PDM. The only legal and democratic form of conversation can only take place in Parliament”, stated Maia Sandu.

Asked by reporters to comment on the investigation initiated today into the alleged foreign funding received by the Party of Socialists, Maia Sandu said her Action and Solidarity Party has always advocated correctitude in matters of political party financing.

“You should go to the Prosecutor General’s Office and ask them why they didn’t do anything about this until now and what sparked their sudden interest in this subject. The fact that this investigation is started today can lead us to the conclusion that it’s political retaliation”, said Maia Sandu.
