The Party of Socialists convenes its National Council for final discussions and decisions concerning the political situation for June 7, 3pm. The decision was announced after the meeting of the PSRM’s Executive Political Committee that was held on June 6 following the “Action and Solidarity” Party’s decision to support a Socialist candidate as Parliament Speaker, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the PSRM, as a result of the held discussions it was agreed that the party will continue the dialogue and will assist on the positions stated in the April 12 decision of the National Council. These refer to the priority adoption of a package of laws, including social and economic laws and laws related to the interethnic relations and strengthening of the state institutions.
The Socialists demand to restore the President’s powers that existed before October 1, 2016, to divide the responsibilities in governance and to vote in the leader of the PSRM Zinaida Grecheanyi as Parliament Speaker. They insists on managing such areas as foreign policy, public order and defense and the country’s reunification and controlling the relevant ministries.
The PSRM noted that in order to collect comprehensive information for taking final decisions at the National Council, it will delegate representatives to find out details about the proposals aimed at overcoming the political crisis that were formulated earlier by the Democratic Party.
