The Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union is outside the negotiations on the formation of a parliamentary majority with the Party of Socialists, cvice president of the Democratic Party (PDM) Vladimir Cebotari was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Reply” on Prime TV channel. According to him, the agreement should be implemented as Moldova undertook to fulfil particular commitments. He noted the PDM is sufficiently flexible to reach a compromise on the formation of a government.
Vladimir Cebotari stated the Democrats do not stick to posts, including that of Parliament Speaker. “If the PSRM considers holding the post of Speaker is very important for them to completely deliver the promises made to the people, they can hold this post. We have the flexibility needed to reach compromises on all the problems that can contribute to improving people’s lives, their wellbeing and the state of affairs in the Republic of Moldova,” stated the politician.
He noted they didn’t discuss posts inside the PDM as they should first see the priorities on which the Socialists will focus. “Depending on the priorities, we will consider the positions and the best people in the key posts,” said Vladimir Cebotari.
The politician stated the projects initiated by the PDM, such as “Good Roads” and “First House”, will be among Democrats’ priorities in the discussions on the future coalition with the Socialists. “It’s true that we and the Party of Socialists are political rivals, but we both have the social problems of the population among our priorities or at least among our promises,” he noted.
On May 31, the Democratic Party invited the Party of Socialists to discussions to see if they can find a parliamentary cooperation formula based on people’s expectations and priorities.
