Oleg Reidman: Moldova is in a political crisis and snap elections are a solution to this

Ex-Communist MP Oleg Reidman said the probability of having snap parliamentary polls is of 70%. He noted the Republic of Moldova already entered a political crisis and the snap election can be a solution to this crisis. The issue was developed in the program “Important” on TVC21 channel, IPN reports.

“Three months without a government. A parliamentary country without Parliament,” stated the ex-MP. According to him, no parliamentary majority has been formed so far because none of the participants in the discussions were independent.

He said everything will become clear on the political arena when the Constitutional Court pronounces on the President’s inquiry when Parliament can be dissolved.

The former MP noted the first sitting of Parliament is convened by the President and wondered what prevents Igor Dodon now from convoking the legislature. “Who knows if there is a parliamentary majority or not? He should convoke Parliament so that this adopts the necessary decisions and should propose the agenda. If there is no parliamentary majority, what does this mean? That there is no Speaker? But who the Speaker of Parliament is? This is only the chief MP. He is not the master of Parliament. He chairs the sitting,” stated the Communist.

On May 22, President Igor Dodon went to the Constitutional Court to clarify when the three-month period after which Parliament can be dissolved starts – when the seats of MP are validated or when the legislature constitution meeting is held.
