PSRM responds to ACUM invitation

The Party of Socialists has reiterated its readiness to form working groups to discuss matters related to the election of Parliament leadership and examine legislative proposals from both sides. “But this can only happen if ACUM shows readiness to consider the formation of a stable governing coalition based on the proposals put forward by the PSRM National Council with the purpose of changing the current government system and avoiding snap elections”, stated Ion Ceban, the party’s chief ideologist.

Ion Ceban posted to FB that his party notes “the less categorical tone” of ACUM’s latest message, which is regarded as a good sign for future talks. However, “it is with regret that the PSRM finds that the PAS and DA are not yet ready to have serious negotiations on the PSRM’s proposals adopted at its latest National Council”.

Ceban went on to add that the PSRM has clearly and publicly announced on what conditions the party is ready to start negotiating the formation of a bipartisan government. “Today’s invitation from ACUM doesn’t add any clarity as to whether our proposal to form a functional coalition is accepted or not”.

At the same time, the Socialists are concerned about “a number of actions and activities with unionist undertones with the active participation of the ACUM leadership, which categorically cannot be accepted by the Socialists as an element of the future government”.

Earlier today the bloc ACUM renewed its invitation for the Party of Socialists to form a working group in order to discuss “a joint anti-oligarchic and social agenda, and ways of forming Parliament’s governing bodies”.
