Party “Democracy at Home” makes call for solidarity with Alina Paniko

Representatives of the Party “Democracy at Home” called on the media outlets and national and international human rights organizations to turn their attention to the case of Alina Paniko, who settled in Romania and who was banned from entering Moldova.

In a news conference at IPN, Ion Leashchenko, who runs for MP on the list of the Party “Democracy at Home”, said the reasons invoked by the Border Police for barring Alinei Paniko’s access to Moldova – that she poses a threat to national security – are bizarre. This is an abuse as Alina Paniko does not represent a danger to national security. Moreover, she runs in the parliamentary elections and should thus benefit from immunity in the electoral period.

Valeria Voronin, Alina Paniko’s colleague, said the Border Police’s attitude to the own people is condemnable and inadmissible. The state authorities created an unpleasant situation for Alina’s parents, who waited for her home. Valeria Voronin called on all the colleagues from the mass media to make common cause and condemn the border police’s and customs officers‘ abuses against candidate Alina Paniko.

Anatol Ursu, who runs in the parliamentary elections on behalf of the Party “Democracy at Home” and is Alinei Paniko’s colleague, said that when they worked for 10 TV, they said that the witnessed developments were hallucinating. The abuses are committed by the government for fear of the unionist movement. “We have never seen a candidate who is the citizen of the state being banned from entering the own country, possibly only in the case of Renato Usatyi. But drawing a parallel between the danger posed by Renato Usatyi and Alina Paniko is an exaggeration,” noted Anatol Ursu.
