The electoral bloc ACUM DA PAS promises that if it comes to power, until 2023 it will fulfil all the conditions for the Republic of Moldova to be able to apply for the EU membership status. The commitment was presented in a news conference on February 5, IPN reports.
PAS leader Maia Sandu, co-president of the bloc, said ACUM pledges to fully and responsibly fulfil all the commitments stipulated in the Association Agreement so that Moldova could file the application for EU membership until 2023. “The bloc ACUM is the only credible force that can guarantee the European integration of the Republic of Moldova,” stated Maia Sandu.
“Integrating into Europe means seriously undertaking the good and very good methods of functioning and development of democratic societies in western Europe. Integrating into Europe actually means living well here, in Moldova,” stated the leader of PPPDA Andrei Năstase, co-president of the bloc.
In the event, ACUM announced that it commits itself to implement the recommendations formulated in the last resolution of the European Parliament and to annul the mixed electoral system and confirm the results of the mayoral elections held in Chisinau. The bloc also pledges to restore the relations with the EU during the first three months of government and to obtain the suspended financial assistance.
The leaders of ACUM said they will build and strengthen a special relationship with Romania based on mutual respect for democracy, the rule of law and prosperity and will finish the construction of the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline that will enable Moldova to import energy resources from the West. The strategic partnership with the U.S. will be of major importance and assistance will be sought from the United States in investigating the banking fraud.
In the relations with Russia, ACUM will focus in the creation of conditions for developing reciprocal partnerships. Emphasis will be placed on the diminution of the economic, energy, social and political vulnerabilities. It will mobilize international support for making Russia to unconditionally and immediately withdraw its troops from Moldova’s territory.
