The anti-popular laws and acts adopted during the last ten years, such as the capital amnesty law, the law on the introduction of the mixed electoral system and the law that makes the people repay the stolen banking funds, will be repealed. The fight against corruption and the reformation of the justice sector are also among the priorities of the politicians in the future Parliament. The priorities were formulated by representatives of the PCRM, PSRM and the electoral bloc ACUM PAS and DA Platform at the public debate “Elections 2019: Please elect me MP because...”, which was the 101th installment of the series “Developing political culture through public debates” and was staged by IPN News Agency on January 30, 2019.
Elena Bodnarenko, of the Party of Communists, said that besides reviewing the legislation and annulling the anti-popular laws, reforms in support of the citizens should be initiated immediately. This will help the people get rid of poverty and to consequently reform the middle class that disappeared during the last few years and the people in Moldova are now either very rich or very poor.
“The PCRM showed not only once that it can bring things in the country in order. Order in the country means discipline and observance of the law. The laws are written to be respected, not to be explained at the Constitutional Court by jurists, starting with Mihai Ghimpu and ending with Sergey Sîrbu,” stated the Communist candidate. Elena Bodnarenko noted the future legislative body will have to unite society as the people of Moldova are now more than ever split according to national principles, language, geopolitical and social principles and this can have very dramatic consequences for the country.
Bogdan Țîrdea, of the Party of Socialists, said when the Socialists enter Parliament, they will immediately annul the “billion law” and will initiate the switchover to the presidential republic when the President will have the right to name the prosecutor general, the director of the National Anticorruption Center and the director of the Security and Intelligence Service. The PSRM will also initiate the so-called “zero policy” by which all the decisions, plans and programs approved by now by the Democratic Party will be annulled, like the extension of retirement age, optimization of schools and closing of hospitals.
“If we switch over to the presidential republic, we will manage to free the state from captivity and to destroy those oligarchic schemes and that phenomenon of state capture that exists now,” stated Bogdan Țîrdea.
Alexandru Slusari, of the electoral bloc ACUM PAS and DA Platform, said the complete reformation of the justice sector and fighting of grand corruption are the key priorities of the bloc ACUM in Parliament. Immediately after the bloc ACUM takes over, it will take measures to profoundly clean the bodies of the justice system. Among other priorities are the reformation of the Superior Council of Magistracy, creation of a national anticorruption department and of the Special Anticorruption Court where only foreign prospectors and judges will serve.
The reformation of the Supreme Court of Justice and consolidation of the National Integrity Authority are also among the priorities of the bloc. Alexandru Slusari noted the publication of the Kroll 2 report and ensuring of the real investigation of the banking fraud are also undertaken commitments, as are the declassification of information about the capital amnesty, annulment of the law that enables to grant citizenship by investment and approval of the Magnitsky law. “ACUM wants to build an independent justice system and to ensure the rule of law so that the law is the same for everyone,” stated Alexandru Slusari.
A representative of the Democratic Party that tops the list of candidates on the ballot was also invited to the debate, but this didn’t present himself even if an official representative confirmed the invitation was received six days ago.
The electoral contenders are invited to the electoral debates held by IPN Agency in accordance with the order in which they were registered by the Central Election Commission.
Candidates of the Shor Party, the People’s Movement “Antimafie”, the Our Party and the National Liberal Party confirmed their participation in the debate scheduled for January 31, 2pm.
