Maxim Lebedinski: Admission of criminally investigated persons to election campaign is something embarrassing

The fact that persons who were convicted or are investigated criminally or whose cases were remitted to court were admitted to the election campaign prior to the  parliamentary elections is embarrassing, said President Igor Dodon’s legal adviser Maxim Lebedinski, who is a member of the Party of Socialists. According to him, dissatisfaction was thus caused among the citizens, IPN reports.

Maxim Lebedinski noted an important role in this case is played by the moral aspect as, when a competitor wants to obtain one of the highest public posts in the country, the citizens expect the image of this to be appropriate.

According to him, some of the electoral contenders already resort to agitation even if this is banned until January 25, when the election campaign starts. “It is serous when foreign citizens are involved in electoral agitation and political activities,” Maxim Lebedinski stated in the talk show “Important” on TVC 21 channel.

As to the Party of Socialists’ lists of candidates for MP, the adviser said the party fielded candidates in all the single-member constituencies and the cooperation with independent candidates in the next Parliament is out of the question.

The parliamentary elections will take place on February 24, 2019.
