The Democratic Party (PDM) changed its view and positioned itself as a pro-Moldova party because it suffered a defeat at the European level. Furthermore, this change took place because the citizens lost confidence in the pro-European view. The issue was developed in the talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.
Socialist MP Adrian Lebedinski said the Socialists consider the pro-Moldova slogan means a country that has good relations both with the West and with the East. It is a country that takes care of its citizens inside and outside it. Until now most of the citizens supported the European course, but current polls show the people lost confidence in this view. The Democrats considered they are losing the political right and had to move towards the center. “They took our message because they try to denigrate us and to destroy the idea of integrating Moldova, as they did in the case of the European integration idea,” stated the MP.
Vice president of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Mihai Popșoi said pro-Moldova is neither a strategy, nor a tactic, but is a banal slogan both in the case of the PSRM and in the case of the PDM. “In the case of the PDM, it is nothing else but recognition by the Democratic Party of the fact that they were defeated at the European level because they are no longer supported,” he stated.
The politician noted that according to sources in the PDM, the party’s internal polls show this is below the electoral threshold. “The PDM found no another way out than trying this pro-Moldova slogan that is nothing else but an euphemism,” said Mihai Popșoi.
