The Government remains focused on the implementation of reforms, including the ‘small reform’ in justice, and it is important for Moldova to feel the European Union’s assistance in implementing these. In this regard, an important role is played by the macro-financial assistance and the budget support programs, stated Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who had a meeting with the EU Ambassador to Moldova Peter Michalko and Director of Neighborhood East at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations Lawrence Meredith, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

Pavel Filip said the rapprochement with the EU remains a priority of the government and this is proven by the increase in the EU’s popularity among the citizens. “I would like the European course of the Republic of Moldova to become irreversible by the end of my term in office,” he stated, noting the Government and Parliament are ready to fulfill the assumed commitments even if Moldova is in an electoral year.

The European officials underlined the necessity of making additional efforts to implement the undertaken commitments as planned. They said they will continue to offer the Government assistance in doing reforms that would increase the living standards of the people. Peter Michalko and Lawrence Meredith also referred to the launch of regional projects in Ungheni and Cahul with EU support.

The officials expressed the EU’s interest and readiness to support the multiplication of the ITC Centers of Excellence by the Tekwill model in the country’s regions. Pavel Filip welcomed such an idea.
