The ambassadors accredited in Chisinau are encouraging the reshuffled Government to remain focused on implementing the reform agenda and meeting all the assumed commitments, the Government said in a press release.

During a meeting wit the ambassadors of the EU countries, of the US and Turkey, held on Tuesday, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the reshuffle aimed to depoliticize the Cabinet so that the reform pace would not lose momentum during 2018, which is an electoral year. “I don’t want the Government to be paralyzed by the electoral fever. Instead, I want the governmental agencies to focus directly on implementing reforms”, stated Pavel Filip.

He went on to add that European integration and Moldova’s reintegration remained the top priorities for 2018. Speaking about the Transnistrian settlement process, Filip said the Government would be active. “We will come up with a number of proposals and initiatives so as to solve at least the issues from the first basket and provide the needed comfort to the people in the region.”

Six members of the Filip Cabinet will be replaced and a new deputy prime minister position will be included in a shake-up announcement by the Democratic Party president Vlad Plahotniuc on Tuesday.
