The deputy head of the Analytical Center under the Russian Government Gleb Pokatovich wasn’t allowed to enter the Republic of Moldova. The self-styled foreign ministry of Transnistria on its website says that Gleb Pokatovich was to visit the region in the context of the intergovernmental cooperation in the field of economic-financial auditing. The same source notes the incident is a new destructive action sowing that the Moldovan side is not ready to build constructive relations with the Transnistrian side.
To an inquiry by IPN, the Border Police said the Russian citizen was banned from entering the Republic of Moldova for the reason that he didn’t meet the conditions for being allowed to cross the state border given that this could not justify the purpose of his visit. All the persons who cross the state border are subject to border checks, regardless of the social status, age category, nationality or sex. Under the legislation, the border police can thoroughly examine the persons and units of transport to make sure that these meet all the conditions for being authorized to cross the state border.
