The Liberal Party (PL) is ready to form a ruling alliance with well-defined objectives on the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), the leader of the Party’s group on the Council Ion Cebanu said in the public debate “Dissolution of majority coalition on the Chisinau Municipal Council: reasons and consequences at local and national levels” that was organized by IPN News Agency in concert with Radio Moldova.
Ion Cebanu stated that an alliance on the CMC is needed to assume responsibility for governance. This future alliance should set the priorities of the municipal administration, as the previous alliance started to do.
However, the leader of the Liberal councilors considers a new majority alliance was formed on the CMC, but this hasn’t been yet declared. This new alliance was formed based on hatred. A series of legalities were witnessed in the last two meetings of the CMC, in which the Liberals didn’t take part. The draft decisions included in the agenda weren’t ready for consideration, while the councilors who attended the meeting tried to combine a number of interests.
As to the dissolution of the majority coalition on the CMC, Ion Cebanu said that when the councilors were ready to vote in the deputy mayors, councilor Ion Stefanita withdrew from the alliance. The representatives of the European People’s Platform - Iurie Leanca left afterward.
According to Ion Cebanu, the Liberal councilors want first of all good results to be achieved for the municipality of Chisinau.
Two weeks ago, the agreement to form a pro-European alliance on the Chisinau Municipal Council was terminated.
