If the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) decides to withdraw from the agreement to form the Alliance for European Integration 3, everything possible will be done to avoid early parliamentary elections, Democratic MP Sergiu Sarbu said in a public debate at IPN. The lawmaker noted that the Democratic Party earlier was put in the situation to rule within a minority coalition and will cope again if need be. On the other hand, Socialist MP Vlad Batrancea told the same debate that the ruling alliance will definitely fall apart, Parliament will not include a majority and this will inevitably lead to early elections.

Sergiu Sarbu considers that now early elections are impossible and voiced hope that the alliance partners – the Liberal-Democratic MPs - will show political maturity and will not withdraw from the agreement to form the ruling alliance now that their former leader Vlad Filat was arrested on charges of passive corruption and influence peddling. If the agreement is yet denounced and the ruling alliance falls apart, the Democratic Party will know how to act as it was already in the situation when it formed part of a minority government for about half a year. It considers that when initiatives needed for reforming the country and ensuring the people’s welfare are proposed in Parliament, these will be voted by all the factions.

Vlad Batrancea noted that the PLDM is falling apart and the Alliance for European Integration 3 de facto is in clinical death. Neither the Government headed by Valeriu Strelet will last long. A censure motion against it was already registered in Parliament and two more MPs will sign it the coming days, but more lawmakers could yet sign it.

Asked about the possibility that the same political parties will enter Parliament after early elections, Vlad Batrancea noted that last November the voters didn’t know about the bank frauds and other wrongdoings committed by those who came to power, but now will vote in a different way as they know the truth.
