“If we listened to the wishes of all the elder and younger brothers of the Communists, we would hold only referendums daily and would not develop the country. Those who now say that they are for Moldova’s statehood and raise flags through Chisinau go to Moscow and present reports on what they did to prevent Moldova from following the European course chosen by the country,” the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said in the program “Friday with Anatol Golea” on RTR Moldova TV channel.
Those who contrast the good relations between Moldova and the EU with the good relations with Russia commit a crime against the country and the people, said the politician, quoted by IPN.
In the parliamentary elections of this autumn, the people will choose not only the parties, but also the country’s development course. “The Constitution must clearly stipulate that the goal of Moldova is to become an EU member and the people should state their opinions, probably by referendum. It’s not excluded that the referendum will be held together with the parliamentary elections. But we haven’t yet discussed this issue. It is only an idea,” said the leader of the Liberal-Democrats.
Vlad Filat stated that it’s not normal to follow one course for four years and then to change this course because the country can be divided into several parts this way. “We now need stability and should go on,” he stated.
He noted that a new government coalition will be most probably formed after the elections and the Liberal Democratic Party is ready to make a coalition will all those who will enter Parliament, except the Communists. But he believes that such parties as the Party of Socialists will not enter the legislature.
