No file has been registered so far in the contest for the position of prosecutor general, launched by the Superior Council of Prosecutors on August 9. Asked by journalists, the interim Prosecutor General, Dumitru Robu, said he would not put forward his candidacy.

"You know very well the legal provisions, which do not allow me to run, because I am a member of the Council", said Dumitru Robu after the Superior Council of Prosecutors meeting on Thursday, August 29th.

The topic of the competition was discussed at the CSP meeting. The members of the Council decided to submit a request to the specialized commission of the Ministry of Health to issue clarifications regarding the validity of the medical certificate that needs to be included in the file. Angela Motuzoc, CSP chairwoman, told the press that the last day for submission is September 10. If no candidate is registered, the submission period will be extended.

The position of prosecutor general remained vacant following the resignation of Eduard Harunjen on July 11. Two days earlier, Parliament found that his appointment to the office did not meet procedure provisions.
