As an important partner on the market of the European Union, Poland has a continuously rising potential for Moldovan exports. Moldova’s bilateral trade with Poland in 2018 exceeded 300 million euros, a 12% rise on the previous year. This information was presented at the second session of the Export Morning Program, organized by the Moldovan Investment Agency.
Attending the event, Poland’s Ambassador Bartlomiej Zdaniuk said the two countries have profound commercial ties, which is due to Moldova having a good reputation in Poland. “The key to success in Poland has been the vast and dense network of small enterprises”, stated Bartlomiej Zdaniuk.
The event is organized in partnership with the EU-funded project “Visibility and Communication for the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (AA / DCFTA)”. Andrei Crigan, project expert, said Moldova’s exports to Poland currently stand at about one hundred million euros. Moldovan exports include both food products, like sunflower seeds, canned goods and juices, and non-food goods, such as textiles, wires and electric cables. Trade with Poland accounts for about 3.55% of Moldova’s total trade.
Moldovan Investment Agency director Rodica Verbeniuc said the Export Morning Program aims to improve the capacities of Moldovan exporters to achieve high standards. “The program basically involves a series of platforms fostering experience exchange, dialog and contacts so that Moldovan companies can get practical lessons about exports”, explained Rodica Verbeniuc.
It’s important that domestic producers know the standards and demands of the markets they want to export to, says Verbeniuc. “We identified the top ten markets where we want to expand. And now we want to know more about each market, focusing on its particularities”.
