The fountains situated in front of Național Hotel in Chișinău, which became nonfunctional when the hotel was closed, were turned into a waste dump where passersby throw bottles, PET packs and other household waste.

Asked by IPN to comment on the situation, acting mayor of Chișinău Ruslan Codreanu said he will examine the situation to see who is responsible for cleaning the area. “That area could be in the charge of the Government or the institution in front of which the fountain in located. We will provide details later,” he stated.

Ruslan Codreanu said he earlier received notifications concerning fountains situated in parks and those who managed the areas intervened swiftly when they identified them.
