Ivan Guci: Three types of candidates run in presidential elections

The people on November 30 are offered to choose between an easily manipulated puppet, an easily bought politician or an oligarch. Only these three options are available and the people will have to choose, Ivan Guci, deputy chairman of the Party “Moldova’s Patriots”, said in the public debate “Specific features of presidential elections 2016: vision of parliamentary parties” of the series “What kind of President is society looking for? What society does the President need?”, held by IPN News Agency.

“Today we need a powerful person as Head of State, who knows the President’s powers and the problems confronting the people. This should be daring and say “Enough!” because the division of the country should really stop,” stated the politician.

As to the specific features of the presidential elections, Ivan Guci said these are the first presidential elections whose legality is open to question. The parliamentary parties, which have administrative resources, play unfairly. “Moldova’s Patriots” considers that the goal of the upcoming elections is to steal the powers enjoyed by the Head of State,” he stated.

The politician believes that the theft of the US$1 billion was committed by those who announced direct presidential elections. The theft led to protests and those who are in power decided to announce presidential elections so as to make the people keep silent and to forget about this theft. “The theft of the US$1 billion involved all the political and banking players and we fear that European banks can also be involved as these knew where this money goes. What the future President must do is to hold all those involved in this process accountable,” he said.

Ivan Guci is sure that a well-orchestrated show is now staged in Moldova. It includes opinion polls showing that we have stability. “This show becomes more disgusting. We feel the unpleasant smell of the election campaign and there is actually no political stability,” he stated.

The September 22 public debate is the 61st installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are staged by IPN with the assistance of the German foundation “Hanns Seidel”.
